Clam chowder anyone?
One "must have" I was told about repeatedly before I set off for San Francisco was clam chowder. I found it for breakfast my first day at Boudin Bakery at Fisherman's Wharf. Served in a sourdough bread browl, it was thick and yummy.

On my second day, I went off to Nob Hill in search of Swan Oyster Depot at 8:30 AM. I ordered a bowl, which was thinner than Boudin's, and quite tasty. The vibe of the place was great. Lots of guys running around a narrow little place with a long lunch counter prepping for the busy day ahead. I went early in the morning to avoid the crowds and because I love a hearty breakfast. I was still a tad hungry after the chowder so I ordered half a dozen kumamoto oysters. Yum!!!
