My White Dresser

This is an old dresser I bought off craigslist, the seller turned out to be a co-worker. She had changed out the knobs, put Anthropologie ones on, and spray painted the whole thing white. Well, I've had it for a couple of years now and the white was looking dingy. I repainted it this weekend with a new coat of semi-gloss wall paint. The drawer pulls will go back in and the top will probably get a piece of cloth, I haven't decided which one yet.

My Mom Rocks!

My Mom's completely awesome. I have an old light purple TJ Maxx rug that I accidentally discolored while washing with an olive green Crate & Barrel rug. (I wash everything in the washing machine, the rugs are cotton.) I had a small piece of crewel fabric that I bought years ago laying around. So I decided to revamp the rug. Since Mom is so helpful, she took on the sewing portion of it, I'm just the person who comes up with the ideas. The rug is being recovered with the 60's vintage crewel fabric and is bordered by some olive green wool felt. It will go next to the bed I think.

Plum and Lion Etsy shop open

My etsy shop is now open! For sale are some 16" square pillow covers from Laos, hand embroidered by the ethnic Hmong tribe. I will eventually put stuff that I make and other loot from my travels in the shop.

(*7-18-07 I just got word from Etsy that I am not supposed to sell stuff from travels on Etsy, it has to be handmade by me. I've taken all the images down. So if anyone is interested in the pillows contact me by clicking on the link in my profile. I will be posting stuff I have made shortly!)

flurry of sightings

Last night, as Geoff was sitting on the back porch watching the rain in Pond Eddy, a little baby skunk rubbed against his leg. He went inside and came back out with some cat food for it. This morning inside the house there was some commotion in the computer room with Boom Boom and Ray. Geoff checked in on them and found them with a baby bat. He caught it and released it outside. On the way to the vet at Port Jervis (Boom Boom got a check up) he saw a bald eagle in the sky. On the way back, he saw a baby snapping turtle crossing the road. He picked it up and rescued it. He brought it back to Pond Eddy and released it in a pond. He spotted a snake by the pond. As he approached the driveway, he saw a Mama bear with two cubs. They ran up the hill when they spotted him. And I missed it all.

Hanging Eyelet Lamp

I've been "working" on this project for such a loooooong time. The electrician came by this weekend and finally helped me wire the whole thing together. I made one for my bedroom and one for the living room, to hang over my Mom's desk.

New Bedroom Curtains

I desperately needed new bedroom curtains so that I can sleep in the mornings while the sun pours into my windows and I wanted to be able to work on the computer during the day. This project has been waiting in a heap on my armchair for months. It's finally done! (with Mom's help) Made of grey velveteen fabric with mod eyelet trim and green grograin ribbon.
