Out of the house

I guess I'm going to time out and go on a mini blogging break. I've been busy thinking about new projects and trying to get older ones "out of the house," as my friend Anna likes to put it. So see you back here soon enough.

Studio Violet Launches

Two of my daily read bloggers, Elisabeth Dunker and Camilla Engman have joined together to form Studio Violet. They just launched their blog and shop this week. I'm super excited and look forward to seeing what they will make when they put their heads together!

One mile at a time

I guess I'm on a blogging break. Somehow August isn't so relaxing and there are lots of things I need to get done. I have to get back into my gym routine, one mile at a time. I'm completely inspired by Murakami, and the Olympics (if I can find some time to watch it).

Emily Shur

Jason Schwartzman copyright Emily Shur

Fire, Japan copyright Emily Shur

Over on the Nymphoto blog, Nina posted a great Conversation with Emily Shur this morning. I'm enjoying this series quite a bit as I'm learning more about artists that I've only heard bits and pieces of. Emily is a great celebrity photographer and I especially love this photo she made of Jason Schwartzman but what I also really admire is that she makes amazing personal work. Fire, Japan is entirely different but has the same wonderful sensibilities as her celebrity work.

Ask me & sidebar updates (help needed)

Nina created this badge based on Liz Kuball's original. Nina's Community Building post explains what it means. Because I host this blog on my own server, I'm having a hard time figuring out how to put this badge in the side bar. If you happen to know how, email me the code!

And while I was rummaging around blogger, trying to figure out how to put the badge on my sidebar, I went ahead and updated my blogroll to include more fav design blogs- Jeana Sohn, Fine Little Day, Lena Corwin, and added Hee Jin Kang's photoblog and website.

LA here I come!

Jeana posted about my work yesterday. I'm planning a trip to LA next month and will get to have some coffee with her and lots of quality time with my best friend Mags and our old buddy Mun. I'm making an itinerary for LA. Is there one place you'd highly recommend for the first time visitor?

inspiration

These three ladies are providing much of my inspiration these days: Jeana Sohn, Smosch, and Lena Corwin. I was thinking that I'd love to have my blog look more like theirs, more photos of my everyday walks, more (better) food photos, and some of what I'm working on. I need to get a new point and shoot camera. I was thinking of getting a new elph (since I like cannons and my current one is a dying elph) or maybe a panasonic lumix (they have leica lenses!). The range is probably $200-$300, not too bad so I might do it within the next month. Any suggestions? I'd like to carry it around in my bag everyday and show you some daily inspirations.

Oh, I let my hair down today (instead of clipping my bangs). I realized that the front is so long now that I can tuck it behind my ears. I was very anxious to get a haircut last week but now I might wait two weeks to see how I like this arrangement.

White Inspiration from Australia

I've just finished reading Anna of Black & Spiro's entire blog Absolutely Beautiful Things. She is an interior decorator based in Brisbane, Australia. The above photo is from her May White Inspiration post. Her blog is filled with gorgeous images for the home. Check her work out and enjoy!
