Home for a day

All the rain and howling wind on Sunday night took a toll on my sleep (plus the neighborhood crazies who honk their car horns non-stop for half an hour at a time and the guys who yell to get let into the house in the middle of the night). I stayed home from work, shivering and sniffling all morning. I made a yum canned tuna salad with celery, celery seeds, cayenne pepper, fresh ground black pepper, salt and wrapped it in some seaweed sushi wrap. I was too lazy to go out so I foraged in the cabinets, and fridge and then decided to make a raspberry/ peach smoothie. Almost gave myself a brain freeze. It was a nice, low-key, semi-productive day. I worked on clearing my bedroom floor (not quite there yet), and clearing the entrance to the apt.

Devastation

My thoughts are with those in Myanmar suffering the devastation of the cyclone that hit on Saturday. This NYTimes article sums up the situation pretty well. I hope that this tragic event will eventually bring about a dialogue for diplomacy and change in a country whose government has been hostile to other governments and to its own people.

Record Breaking Weather

We thought we had it bad in New York yesterday? The trains and platforms were so packed I couldn't get anywhere close to my train. I managed eventually. Check out the images in this National Geographic article about record breaking weather. Also read the article on the dwindling numbers of India's tigers (1300-1500 wild). It brings a sense of urgency to Patrick Brown's Black Market project that I mentioned here.
